After-School Program
Families may enroll in the After-School Program (ASP) by contract, for the same days each week, or on a "drop-in" basis as needed. There are two pick-up times available, 4:45 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. (Please note that before-school care, beginning at 7:15 a.m. is available for no added fee at the Wilmington Friends lower school.)

The After-School Program at Wilmington Friends is more structured than most traditional programs, yet still ensures that children have time to relax and play. ASP provides structured time for homework and scheduled activities such as music lessons, and also offers sign-up clubs and group activities through the year.

Pre-Kindergarten through Pre-First Grade
Our youngest ASP group is housed through the 4:45 p.m. pick-up time in the early-years wing at lower school, with facilities and play equipment designed for pre-k through pre-first students. Children benefit from a consistent schedule that includes snack, stories, rest, free play, and special structured activities and clubs. At approximately 5:00 p.m., students enrolled for the later pick-up time join the first through fourth grade ASP group.

First through Fourth Grade
Parents of first through fourth graders are encouraged to work with their children in selecting clubs and activities that support and deepen their school-day experiences here at Friends. Families have the flexibility to shape each day a little differently, depending on students' individual strengths and interests. With a facility especially designed for the after-school program, summer camp, and physical education, we are able to offer activities from science to sports, from computers to cooking. There is also a homework room, with a counselor on hand to maintain a study-friendly atmosphere and to field questions about assignments.

Fifth and Sixth Grade
Fifth graders walk with staff to the middle/upper school campus to join the sixth grade for ASP. There is a mandatory study hall, Monday through Thursday, but fifth and sixth graders also take responsibility for managing much of their time and energy. Available facilities include a computer lab, gyms, and outdoor lawns and fields, and students also have time for music lessons or to attend on-campus athletic events. Sign-up clubs and activities are again available for this age group, and a snack is provided, with additional food available for purchase.
