*The course in Peace, Justice, and Social Change has been a graduation requirement at Wilmington Friends for more than 25 years. The student-centered seminar explores topics such as the environment/economy relationship, building democracy, and national/personal standard of living toward an understanding of sustainability and how best practices can be applied in different circumstances.
The required course in Quakerism asks students to consider their own philosophies of religion and practice in the context of discussion. The Quaker tradition is not presented as the "right" way, but rather as a basis for discussion of a variety of beliefs and perspective, all worthy of respect.
Senior Exploration is a three-week program in the spring of the senior year, during which students integrate and apply skills in exploring an area of career or deep personal interest, in undertaking a service project, or in an experience involving immersion in another culture. Students then make a presentation on their experience.
Human Dynamics and Development is a cross-divisional (lower, middle, and upper school) program at Wilmington Friends, encompassing social and emotional awareness, interpersonal relationships, and healthy living habits including strategies for making informed decisions.
