5 Days of Friends

As we head into Winter Break, we will be
gearing up for the holidays 2020 style!
All week long, we will focus on a "Day of Friends"
so be sure to check our website,
Facebook, or Instagram for a little surprise
each day from Monday 12/14 - Friday 12/18.

Monday -- Day 1, Holiday Traditions

    • Holiday Traditions at WFS

We hope you enjoy these highlights of the holidays at WFS over the years. What are your family's holiday traditions? Email sdriscoll@wilmingtonfriends.org to let us know and we will share your story on our website and social media. Photos welcome!

Tuesday -- Day 2, Light

    • Quakerism and Light, Ken Aldridge

Light can be magical, meaningful, and whimsical. Learn how it is part of several holiday traditions celebrated by members of our community by clicking here. What is the importance of Light in your faith or family tradition? Email sdriscoll@wilmingtonfriends.org and let us know!

Wednesday -- Day 3, Fun & Games

Today we focus on fun and games! Click here to print some fun sheets, see the latest dance challenge by the Upper School Dance Club, and play our holiday trivia game to win a custom-knit Quakers hat.  Let us know how you participate by sending an email to sfinizio@wilmingtonfriends.org, or post and tag us on social media. Be sure to also send photos of your coloring sheets!

Thursday -- Day 4, Food & Drink

Special recipes and traditions often play a role in our holiday celebrations. Whether it be an appetizer or a main course, a dessert, or a favorite beverage, certain recipes can immediately bring us "home." Our community of faculty and staff (and some alums!) shared their favorite holiday and new year's recipes and traditions, and we’ve incorporated these wonderful contributions into a “digital cookbook.” Please consider sharing your favorite holiday food and drink traditions by emailing Sarah Driscoll at sdriscoll@wilmingtonfriends.org, or posting and tagging us on social media.

Friday -- Day 5, Community Celebration

    • 12 Days of Christmas

On the last day before break, students, faculty, and staff from all grades traditionally gather in the West Gym to celebrate. This year, students are viewing the pre-recorded program with their cohorts, advisories, or from home. The culmination of the so-called "Thing in the Gym" is the singing of the "Twelve Days of Christmas" which can be viewed in the video above. To view the entire program, CLICK HERE. ENJOY!
