Jamie Camp - Middle School Camp Director

Yes, you are seeing that correctly, his last name is camp and, coincidentally, directs the Middle School Camp.  This is, in total, his 15th year with the Wilmington Friends Middle School Summer Camp.  James started work with children at Wilmington Friends School working in the ASP program and Lower School Camp in 1998.  After obtaining a teaching position at the Hockessin Montessori School in 2002, he moved from the lower school camp to the middle school camp; working summers until 2012.  10 years in the classroom led to an administrative position at HMS; Directing Facilities, Gym teacher, After School Director and Summer Camp Director.  After 13 years at HMS, James moved back to the classroom, teaching public school, where he is currently teaching 5th grade at Thurgood Marshall Elementary.  James' return to the Middle School Camp here at Friends came in 2019.  In total James has 24 years of experience working with children.  He holds a Masters in Education:  Teaching and Learning.  He absolutely loves Friends School and couldn't be happier to back where it all began.
