Applicant Visit

After applying, students have a more in-depth visit so they can get to know us better, and we can get to know them better. The format of the visit varies based on grade level:

Preschool and Pre-kindergarten applicants are invited to visit campus to participate in an early-years playgroup. The purpose of the visit is for young children to engage with teachers and peers while exploring classroom materials and participating in age-appropriate activities. Playgroups will be held on the following dates during the 23/24 school year:
October 26, November 16, December 7, January 11, February 15, March 28, April 25, May 16
Please register by completing our Playgroup Registration Form, or by contacting Julia Forester at jforester@wilmingtonfriends.org

Kindergarten applicants are invited to join us on campus for a morning visit with peers. During their time on campus, students will engage in classroom activities including specials, classroom activities, and free play. Applicants may complete their age-appropriate academic assessment on the same day as their visit, or they may return to campus to complete the assessment on another day.

1st - 5th grade applicants are invited to join us on campus for a full-day classroom visit. During their day, students will engage in classroom activities alongside their peers including academic lessons, specials, lunch, and recess. Applicants will complete age-appropriate assessments on the same day as their visit, or they may return to campus to complete the assessments on another day.

6th - 12th grade applicants are invited to Shadow for a Day as soon as the first Monday in October. During the application process, students will have an opportunity to schedule a family meeting with a member of the admissions staff or a representative from the appropriate division.
