Peter Brown Visits Lower School

Author Peter Brown's much-anticipated visit to the lower school earlier this week was a huge success! His books highlight many of our Quaker spices from stewardship in The Community Garden to peaceful resolution in The Wild Robot
Author Peter Brown's much-anticipated visit to the lower school earlier this week was a huge success! His books highlight many of our Quaker spices from stewardship in The Community Garden to peaceful resolution in The Wild Robot. Peter spoke about how his career as an author began and his writing process while taking students through a step-by-step drawing of his characters Mr. Tiger and Roz the Robot. Students noted the extensive research he did with his chapter books and now understand why story mapping and revision are so important. Students asked very thoughtful questions including, "What do you do to celebrate after you finish a book?" "Did you have teachers you thought were 'monsters?'" (after reading My Teacher is a Monster), and, most importantly, "Will there be a book three in the Wild Robot Series?" (Spoiler alert - there will be!)
