Gender Identity and Gender Expression Workshop

Reverend Karla Fleshman and her colleague, Finn, presented to seventh graders a long-awaited and much-requested workshop on gender identity, gender expression, and creating “affirming and safer space for LGBTQIA+ students.”
Karla is a licensed clinical social worker, ordained clergy, and founder of Transitions Delaware. Karla and Finn's workshop described the unique challenges of Transgender/Gender Expansive (T/GE) students. Students engaged in small group conversations about allyship and how best to support their LGBTQIA+ friends, which were moderated by upper school students. Each grade in the middle school will have the benefit of attending these workshops in the coming weeks.
