Learning About Haitian Reforestation

Michael Anello, Executive Director of the Haiti Reforestation Partnership, visited upper school Peace and middle school social studies classes to speak about the organization's work and how reforestation has led to incredible environmental and community development in Haiti.
The Reforestation Partnership works with the rural people of Haiti to, "Strengthen the next generation of the Haitian people and their trees...The story begins and continues with trees. Forests make all the difference. The soil is richer, the rain sinks in and when water emerges in streams, it is clear. Gardens can grow, trees produce fruit, water is cleaner, catastrophic flooding and mudslides are averted, and a more abundant life is possible."  (haitireforest.org)
