Celebrating National Women and Girls in Sports Day

On this National Women and Girls in Sports Day, we proudly recognize our WFS girls’ basketball program.
In their victory over St. Mark’s HS on January 24, the WFS girls’ program reached 800 all-time wins. This is a testament to decades of dedication and teamwork built by generations of players, coaches, and families.

At their game against St. Andrew's, the girls' team was cheered on by former coach Carolyn Connors ’81 (far right), the all-time winningest coach in program history with 113 career wins; Kristi Kerrigan ’08 (middle), one of just five 1,000-point scorers in girls’ program history; and Mike Anderson ’08, whose great-grandmother Frances Hullihen ’28 remains the program’s all-time leading scorer nearly a century later. Hullihen scored 1,350 career points, averaging an incredible 28.5 points per game, and a single-game high of 63 points — a record that still stands nearly a century later.
