The Home & School Association seeks to provide support to Wilmington Friends School by fostering a sense of community among parents, caregivers, faculty, and staff. It also works to raise funds to support community-building events and a variety of important initiatives at Friends, including classroom resources and capital improvements that enhance the school experience for all.
Every parent and caregiver with a student enrolled at Friends is automatically a member of the Home & School Association, and is welcome and encouraged to participate in our activities. We are very proud of our vibrant community of parent and caregiver volunteers who contribute so much to the life of the school.
Home & School events include family picnics, parent socials, speakers, workshops, teacher and staff appreciation events, and community service projects. Our parent volunteers help to organize our much-loved annual Used Book Sale, Fall Mum Sale, Scholastic Book Fair, Gifts & Greens Sale, and they run our Quaker Closet consignment store.
In addition, Home & School volunteers provide meals each month for those in need at the Emmanuel Dining Room in Wilmington, and they organize an annual toy drive for children in the foster care system. They also serve as Parent Ambassadors who help to welcome new families to our community, and as class representatives for each grade who answer questions, keep families informed about school events, and organize grade-level activities.
Volunteering with Home & School is a wonderful way to meet other families and get to know the school better, while also making a positive impact on the school community. We hope you will join us and look forward to seeing you on campus!
