Its purpose is to strengthen relationships, encourage ongoing communication, and support the continued growth and impact of WFS. Through its work, the association helps advance the school’s interests, influence, and mission while promoting the broader value of education.

Membership in the Alumni Association includes all graduates of Wilmington Friends School, as well as non-graduates who attended the school for at least one year in grades seven through twelve. In addition, current and former faculty members are welcomed as associate members, enabling them to participate in alumni activities and gatherings and remain connected to the community.

  • Get Involved!

Interested in getting involved with the Alumni Association? Here are the many ways you can participate in the Friends community, both near and far!

    Class Agents
Class Agents are important leaders in the Friends community. They serve as representatives of their class and as liaisons between classmates and Wilmington Friends School. Duties of the class agents include: informing the school about classmates' news; reporting any address, telephone or email changes that come to their attention; helping to locate lost alumni; asking classmates to join in supporting WFS; and encouraging classmates to attend alumni events. During reunion years we ask that class agents also serve as reunion coordinators.

    Alumni Board
The Alumni Board serves as the governing body for the Alumni Association. Activities involve assisting with Alumni events, sponsoring the Alumni of the Year Award, and other projects to strengthen the overall sense of community. The Board is always seeking new enthusiastic members.

    Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is vital to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating students at Friends. Alumni help every year by writing letters to classmates and participating in Phonathons. You'll receive plenty of training and support. It's easy, requires only a short-term time commitment, and makes a huge difference to the school.

    Senior Exploration & College Information
Each May, seniors who qualify spend three weeks off campus on a project related to career or personal interest, community service, or travel or cultural immersion. Each student must have a sponsoring mentor, and alumni have been among the greatest resource as seniors seek to expand their horizons and to know themselves better before heading off to college. Volunteers are always needed.

Alumni also can help students with college choices, by providing information about their own college experiences, conducting field interviews at Friends on behalf of their colleges, writing recommendations, and just providing informal support. We are working to connect alumni with students around college affiliation; please let us know if you might be interested.

    Your Time & Ideas
There are many ways to get involved and help the school—from admissions to archives, from sharing your photos from events to helping to set up the next event. If you have an area of interest, or if you have some time to volunteer, please contact us at (302) 576-2975, or alumni@wilmingtonfriends.org.
