Lower school students loved learning about the writing process from visiting author, Susan Hood.
With fifth graders, she created a special poetry workshop, sharing ideas from her own writing, and had the students write and share their own poetry. Susan has written hundreds of children's books, including Ada's Violin: The Story of the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay. In art class, third graders created their own recycled orchestra out of found items at the lower school!
Kindergarten students recently listened to a read-aloud of "The Skin You Live In" by Michael Tyler and explored the diversity and the variety of skin tones of the children in the story before creating their own self-portraits!
