WFS Students Embarked on a Memorable Journey Through France!

This June, 14 WFS students embarked on a memorable journey through France!
Beginning with three days in Paris, students explored the City of Light from above (the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre) and below (a scenic river cruise along the Seine). Next, they boarded the high-speed TGV train to Provence, where the historic city of Avignon served as their home base. Once there, students toured the famous Pont d’Avignon and Papal Palace. Their travels also took them to Les Baux de Provence—a medieval fortress with breathtaking views stretching to the Mediterranean—and to St. Rémy, where we learned to make the classic Provençal dish, ratatouille.

Their final stop was Carcassonne, with a memorable picnic at the Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard en route. Students stayed with local host families for three days, immersing themselves in French daily life and culture. During their time, they also spent a rewarding day connecting with students at a local middle school. They wrapped up their trip in the seaside village of Collioure, near the Spanish border, and experienced the summer solstice celebrations of the Fête de la Musique. From boat rides on the Canal du Midi to rock climbing and citywide concerts, students made the most of each moment of this trip.

Lastly, students were able to achieve their goal of having an ice cream (une glace) per day!
