Lesley Dennis Tryon ’71 Recognized for Decades of Service to Wilmington Friends School

Wilmington Friends School honored Lesley Dennis Tryon ’71 at Homecoming 2025 with the Outstanding Service Award in recognition of her more than three decades of dedicated service to the school community, her commitment to service as President of the Board for Survivors of Abuse in Recovery (SOAR), and as Treasurer for Friends of Bellevue State Park. She currently serves as Endowment and Finance Administrator at the Jewish Federation of Delaware.
During her tenure, Lesley served as a trusted and compassionate leader in the Business Office, most recently as Assistant Director of Finance. Known for her patience, kindness, and deep institutional knowledge, she supported employees and families alike, guiding staff through benefits enrollment, assisting with billing questions, and ensuring steady operations through times of transition. In 2022, her impact was recognized nationally with the Professional Achievement Award from the National Business Officers Association.

A lifelong member of the WFS community, Lesley is also the parent of Alex Tryon ’06 and Amy Tryon ’08. Reflecting on her time at Friends, she shared, “You never really leave Wilmington Friends School…Friends truly is my home, and my colleagues are truly my family.”

At the Alumni Awards celebration, Lesley spoke about the lasting impact of a Friends education, saying, “Schools can educate kids. Yes, they can. But we make good people.”
