3rd Graders Explore Delaware Solid Waste Authority

3rd-grade students explored the Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) as they continue to study the Quaker testimony of Stewardship throughout the school year.
While riding the bus through the Cherry Island landfill, students learned what kinds of waste the landfill accepts and how it’s sorted in different areas for various uses, from yard waste to metal. They also learned more about the recycling center as they saw where each type of recycling is taken, sorted, and then baled for redistribution. They ended their visit at the DSWA Education Center, where they played games to learn more about trash, recycling, and composting.
