Tribute Commencement for Quaker Football
The Quaker football team traveled down to the Delaware Legislative Hall for a Tribute Commencement, celebrating their 2022 State Championship season.
A huge thanks to WFS parent and parent of alumnus State Representative Nnamdi Chukwuocha, who invited the team and arranged for two official tributes; one from WFS parent of alumni Governor John Carney and Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long, and another from Speaker of the House Peter Schwartzkopf, Chief Clerk of the House Richard Puffer, and Chukwuocha. The team also had the opportunity to visit with State Senator Sarah McBride and WFS parent of alumni First Lady Tracey Quillen Carney ’80.

Honoring IB Diploma Candidates

Each student delivered a 3–5 minute presentation reflecting on their growth through the program’s core components: Theory of Knowledge, Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS), and the Extended Essay. The evening highlighted the depth of thought, dedication, and inquiry that define the IB experience at Wilmington Friends School. -

Megan Hegenbarth’s Quakerism class took a mindful journey into Alapocas Woods with middle school Spanish teacher Laura Pardo ’90, who studied forest immersion on her sabbatical earlier this year. Guided sensory exercises—listening to rustling leaves, feeling tree bark, noticing the movement of water—helped students support their well‑being by connecting with the present moment, their natural surroundings, and themselves.Read More -
