Maya Dobson ’28 Earns National Recognition for Essay on Language and Culture

Maya Dobson ’28 participated in the national Why Learn Language – Why Learn Chinese competition this past November.
Open to middle and high school students across the United States, the competition invites students to explore the value of language learning through either an essay or a video submission.

Maya entered the essay category with her piece, “Connecting the World through Language and Culture,” competing against students from schools nationwide. More than 620 essays and videos were submitted overall, and Maya earned third place in the essay category—becoming the only student from Delaware to receive this honor.

Well done, Maya!
