Zooming with Researchers on a Ship!

WFS 6th graders had an incredible opportunity to connect via Zoom with Earth science researchers from the University of Delaware, who are currently on a research expedition in the Atlantic Ocean near the equator off Cape Verde!

Students got a virtual tour of the research ship, learned how scientists collect rocks from the ocean floor, and saw samples gathered along an underwater fault line. They wrapped up with a lively Q&A session, asking everything from how to lift 200-pound rocks to what daily life is like living on a ship!
