WFS Eighth Graders Earn Top Honors in Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Five Wilmington Friends School eighth-grade students earned regional recognition in the Delaware Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, a highly competitive program that honors the top creative work from students across the State.
Submissions are evaluated by professionals for originality, technical skill, and personal voice, with awards given only to the top 20% of entries. Regional honors include Gold Keys, Silver Keys, and Honorable Mentions, with Gold Key works advancing to national consideration.

⁃ Katalina M. ’30 (Gold Key and Honorable Mention in poetry)
⁃ Akshainie K. ’30 (Silver Key in flash fiction)
⁃ Elvira M. ’30 (Silver Key in poetry)
⁃ Francesca C. ’30 (Silver Key in poetry)
⁃ Izzy R. ’30 (Honorable Mention in poetry)

Katalina’s poetry was also named an American Voices Nominee, an honor reserved for only the top five works in the State. Her work will now be judged at the national level. All of our eighth-grade students have been busy this year developing their voices as young writers, and we are proud of the growth, creativity, and dedication they have shown throughout the process.
