Piper Roskovensky ’26 and Josh Fung ’26 Perform Diverse IB Music Recital

Tuesday night’s International Baccalaureate (IB) recital showcased the talents of IB Music HL2 and SL students in an evening of vocal and instrumental performances.
Soprano Piper Roskovensky ’26 and cellist Josh Fung ’26 presented a diverse program spanning classical masterworks, jazz, and traditional repertoire.

Piper performed Scalerica de Oro (a Ladino folk song) and Misty by Erroll Garner, while Josh performed selections from Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 (1st movement), Franz Joseph Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major (1st movement), and Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007 (Menuet I and II). Both students were accompanied on the piano by middle school Performing Arts Teacher Sara Gaines.

The recital served as partial fulfillment of the students’ IB portfolio requirement to present music as performers.

The IB HL and SL courses, taught by upper school Performing Arts Teacher Margaret Anne Butterfield, offers students a thorough and comprehensive approach to studying music. The course blends music history, theory, and performance, strengthening students' literacy and musicianship skills in performance, composition, or music theory.

Excellent work, Piper and Josh!
