Smart Machines Classes Compete in Cup-Stacking Challenge
To kick off his classes, especially Smart Machines, upper school computer science teacher Nicholas Ordway began with a cup-stacking challenge (with a twist).
Split into teams of four, each group gets a rubber band with four pieces of yarn attached. Every student holds one piece of yarn, and the group must work together to stretch the rubber band around a cup, lift it, move it to the correct location, and release it without touching the cup with their hands!
The activity requires communication, patience, and teamwork. This helps prepare students for the hands-on labs and group projects that they will complete throughout class.
