Creating Change Together: WFS Students Attend Quaker Youth Leadership Conference

Aubrey Ashman ’26, Abigail Thurlow ’26, Easton Martinenza ’27, Emma Furman ’28, Bayan Katirai ’29, and Will Van Druff ’29 spent the weekend in Providence, Rhode Island with chaperones Megan Hegenbarth and Katie Wolf Martinenza ’99 at the Quaker Youth Leadership Conference (QYLC).
This year’s theme, Creat(iv)e Change, explored the connections between art, creativity, and the ongoing work toward a more just and peaceful world. Providence provided a powerful setting to examine how artistic expression, community, and social change intersect.

Students reflected on a strong sense of belonging and encouragement that emerged through their shared experiences. QYLC reminded students and adults alike that creativity, community, and courage are deeply connected and that meaningful change begins when people are truly seen and supported.

QYLC brings together students from Quaker schools across the United States and Canada for an immersive weekend focused on leadership development, community building, and spiritual growth. Through workshops, discussions, worship, and shared experiences, students engage deeply with Quaker values and explore how those values show up in their own lives and school communities.
