WFS French Students Traveled to Québec

The 2026 Québec trip did not disappoint!

7th through 9th grade French students traveled to Québec over the mid-winter break to learn about the culture, history, food, and traditions of our French-speaking neighbor to the north. Students experienced the "Carnaval de Québec" and saw le Bonhomme (the carnival's snowman mascot) around town. They snowshoed the Plains of Abraham, relived the battles against the British of 1759 and 1760, learned how maple syrup is made (and ate LOTS of it), and danced at a Sugar Shack.

They also rode a traditional toboggan at the foot of the famous Château Frontenac, learned the legends of old Québec at a woodcarving shop, and tried Poutine. Students visited the Musée de la civilisation, the Cathedral of Saint Anne, and the highest waterfall in Quebec, Montmorency Falls. Students wrapped up their experience with a visit to Québec's famous ice hotel and some tubing! Returning with a new appreciation for Québecois culture, students were able to fully embrace its winter season.
