WFS Flat Park Ranger

As part of their study on National Parks, third grade students send out "flat rangers" to the park they are studying. We recently heard from Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, who took third grader Felicity's flat ranger on quite an adventure!

Ranger Ashley from the park described the day's adventures, saying, "We started off at the fall river entrance station, then made our way to sheep lakes (which sadly held no sheep since they have all migrated to lower elevation at this time of year.) After sheep lakes, we then headed to the Junior Ranger Headquarter station up at Hidden Valley! At this hidden gem is where we (the education rangers) will go and do programs with the kids and schools that come to visit the park. Right now we are focusing on our winter explorer bags and teaching kids and families about the winter ecology of the park. After that, we took a nice scenic drive through moraine park where we got stunning mountain views and even some wildlife sightings! (Hello deer!) Lately we have been seeing elk and moose, but we think they were playing hide and seek with us today so we unfortunately got no photos with them."

Such a fun day for our WFS flat ranger! Thanks to Ranger Ashley for including us in her day.
