The WFS garden had a busy summer, donating nearly 500 pounds of produce this season alone!
The School received a $3,000 grant from the Whole Kids Foundation, which we hope to build a greenhouse with. WFS teacher (and garden manager) Carlos Charriez was also named a Pilot Light Chefs Food Education Fellowship recipient. We have loved watching this program (literally) grow over the last decade both in size and serving our community!
Ninth graders recently met with Abdi Nor Iftin, author of their summer reading book, Call Me American, which depicts Abdi's life in Somalia and his curiosity about Western culture, which ultimately became dangerous and led to him fleeing the country.
Thank you to Gregg Behr and Ryan Rydzewski, authors of the book When you Wonder, You're Learning: Mister Rogers' Enduring Lessons for Raising Creative, Curious, Caring Kids, for their wonderful presentation last week to our school community!
During the 2021-2022 school year, our community is reflecting on the Quaker SPICE of peace, challenging our students, parents/guardians, faculty, and staff to think about peace on both a community and a personal level.
