We are so pleased to announce the launch of our Quaker Matters Podcast!
The podcast will serve as a way to share conversations with the faculty, staff, and students from Wilmington Friends School.
Our very first episode is with middle school head, Jon Huxtable. Jon has held various roles at WFS since the late 1990s, and his perspective on teaching and helping middle school students grow is invaluable. "They (the students) have to engage. They have to see themselves as growing and learning and developing and they must attribute that growth and learning and developing to their own actions, their own effort," he said.
Paulo Machado, chair of the visual arts department, recently had a painting on display in the WFS gallery, which was part of a larger body of paintings that use wide uninterrupted brushstrokes on top of darker areas of color as metaphors for conscious attempts to heal.
To recognize National Stress Awareness Day today, the QuakerCares Committee was in the Java Nook asking students to fill out a helpful stress tip or positive thought, which will then be displayed for the community.
