WFS welcomed Daniel Suchenski and Dr. Randolph Guschl to Campus

WFS welcomed Daniel Suchenski and Dr. Randolph Guschl to campus.
Wilmington Friends School welcomed Daniel Suchenski, Executive Director of the Delaware STEM Council, and Dr. Randolph Guschl, Executive Director of the Delaware Foundation for Science and Mathematics Education (DFSME), to campus. After spending time discussing the important STEM work that is happening throughout the First State, Daniel and Randolph were able to explore the Ira T. Ellis ’52 Design Lab and visit former WFS physics teacher Matt Cauchy and current WFS upper school computer science teacher Jenks Whittenburg. While exploring the lab, Daniel and Randolph learned more about how our students use the space across multiple academic disciplines. They also learned about the WFS Robotics program and the impact that coding has on WFS lower school students beginning in first grade.

Thanks so much for visiting, Daniel and Randolph!

If you would like to learn about the lower school computer science program and how it lays the foundation for middle school, upper school, and beyond, check out this podcast episode with WFS lower school math and computer science teacher, Carol Amaral-Ly: https://rss.com/podcasts/wilmingtonfriendsschool/797119/
