Pouring of Libations

Students gathered today for the Pouring of Libations, a long-standing tradition that, while not Quaker in origin, beautifully reflects our community’s values.
Rooted in many cultures, this practice invites participants to honor loved ones, ancestors, or spiritual guides by sharing a name or memory before watering a plant as a symbol of enduring life.

During this special Meeting for Worship, the Student Quaker Life Committee sat on the facing bench as the clerk invited messages, and a committee member gently watered the plant after each one, reinforcing the idea that love and memory continue to grow.
