WFS Juniors Gain Inside Look at College Admissions Through Case Studies Program

The WFS College Office recently hosted a Case Studies program for juniors and their parents/guardians. Prior to the program, students and families were given three college applications to read.
During the program, attendees worked in small groups as "admissions committees" facilitated by professionals who currently work in college admissions. Groups were asked to admit one student, deny one student, and waitlist one student.

We were excited to welcome admissions officers from Franklin & Marshall College, George Mason University, Gettysburg College, Hampden-Sydney College, Occidental College, Spring Hill College, The University of Chicago, University of New Hampshire, University of Vermont, and University of Wisconsin to act as facilitators and share their knowledge.

Attendees learned about the importance of college "fit," the role of courses and grades, the impact of standardized testing, and how the essay, activities, and letters of recommendation shape college decisions from professionals, allowing them to gain invaluable insight into the admissions process.
