AVP Facilitators Lead Powerful Peace & Conflict Resolution Workshop with 9th Graders
Rick Grier Reynolds, who created the Global Peace & Justice course at WFS, returned today with Brian Winward, a returned citizen and long-time AVP facilitator, and parent of alumni Tim Terranova, to discuss the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) and run an AVP workshop with 9th grade students.
Rick, Brian, and Tim all are AVP facilitators in Delaware and together with students they explored themes of transformation, change, and the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully through activities and a Q & A session. The AVP workshops aim to equip people with the tools and skills necessary to navigate challenging situations without resorting to violence. Their visit highlighted how we can make positive changes in the world through guiding principles such as patience, caring for others and ourselves, expecting the best from others, and thinking before acting.
