WFS Class of 1976 Marks 50th Reunion and Historic Athletic Milestones
It was wonderful to welcome the Wilmington Friends School Class of 1976 back to campus to celebrate its 50th reunion! Throughout Homecoming Weekend, classmates reconnected, reminisced, and celebrated the friendships and experiences from their time at WFS.
The weekend also offered an opportunity to celebrate two remarkable chapters in WFS athletics history: the 1975–76 cross country team, whose members helped launch the program 50 years ago, and the 1975-76 football team, which went undefeated throughout their four years at Friends!
At our 50th reunion luncheon--where we also celebrated with members of the classes of 1956, 1961, and1966--classmate Bid Hukill ’76 reflected on the friendships, teachers, experiences, and Quaker values that shaped the Class of 1976's time at Friends and has stayed with them throughout their lives. She spoke about the importance of recognizing the Inner Light in others, the lasting impact of teachers who modeled kindness and respect, and the responsibility to help make those same experiences possible for future generations.
As Bid shared, "These experiences were carried forward into our adult lives giving us confidence to show up, speak up, and participate."
Thank you to the Class of 1976 for making this 50th reunion such a memorable celebration!
