Middle School Camp (5th through 8th grades)

Get ready for an unforgettable summer!
Middle School Camp is expanding its programming with weekly morning themes that give campers the chance to dive into new experiences from hands-on science and creative arts to outdoor adventure and team challenges. Each week offers a fresh focus and a unique way to explore, create, and grow. In the afternoons, campers will continue to enjoy a mix of on-campus games and activities along with off-campus adventures such as swimming and ice skating. We’re also spreading out elements of Adventure Camp across Tuesday afternoons and Fridays, allowing campers to enjoy extended outdoor challenges and special trips throughout the summer.

  • Week 1 - Wilderness Survival Skills with Carlos Charriez

    Get ready for an action-packed week of adventure, survival skills, and outdoor exploration! Campers will learn vital skills like shelter-building, water filtration, knot-tying, and navigation, preparing them for any wilderness scenario. Each day is filled with hands-on challenges, teamwork, and fun activities designed to develop essential survival techniques. By the end of the week, campers will have gained the confidence and knowledge to thrive in the great outdoors. Join us for an unforgettable experience where adventure awaits!
  • Week 2 - Design Thinking with Carlos Charriez

    Get ready to think like real innovators! In this summer camp theme, students will dive into the exciting world of Design Thinking—a creative problem-solving process used by engineers, scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs around the world. Campers will learn how to identify real problems, brainstorm bold ideas, build hands-on prototypes, and test their designs just like professional creators do.

    Throughout the program, students will work individually and in teams to design solutions that make life easier, more fun, or more efficient. From sketching out inventions to constructing models with everyday materials, campers will discover how creativity and teamwork can turn simple ideas into amazing solutions.

    By the end of camp, our young designers will walk away with stronger collaboration skills, more confidence in their ideas, and a deeper understanding of how innovation shapes the world around them. Most importantly, they’ll have a blast imagining, inventing, and improving the world—one design at a time!
  • Week 3 - Backyard Science Experiments with Carlos Charriez

    Join us for an exciting week of Backyard Science Experiments Camp, where middle school campers will dive into the fascinating world of science through hands-on experiments, games, and outdoor exploration! From launching bottle rockets and investigating local ecosystems, each day is packed with fun and educational activities that spark curiosity and promote teamwork. Campers will create their own projects, engage in thrilling competitions, and learn about the wonders of the natural world—all while making lasting memories with friends. Let’s unleash our inner scientists and discover the magic of science right in our own backyards!
  • Week 4 - Around the World in Four Days

    Pack your bags (imaginary ones, of course) and get ready for a whirlwind tour of global cultures during our "Around the World in Four Days" camp! Each day, we'll explore the traditions, games, crafts, and foods of a different country. From mastering origami in Japan, breaking piñatas in Mexico, and decoding hieroglyphics in Egypt, to building Eiffel Towers in France, campers will experience hands-on activities that bring each destination to life. Join us for a journey of discovery and creativity.
  • Week 5 - Escape Rooms

    Join us for an exciting week of brain-teasing challenges and team-building adventures at our Escape Room Week! Campers will immerse themselves in the world of puzzles and clues, learning the art of problem-solving and collaboration. Each day will feature engaging activities designed to sharpen critical thinking skills, from creating their own escape room challenges to solving themed puzzles. On the final day, campers will showcase their creativity as they put their peers' escape rooms to the test. Get ready for a thrilling week filled with mystery, teamwork, and endless fun—where every clue counts and every second matters! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to become a master detective!
  • Week 6 - TikTok Challenges (without screens)

    Get ready for an exciting week of TikTok-inspired challenges – without the screens! TikTok Challenge Week will engage campers in creative, fun, and physically active tasks that mirror the popular trends and challenges from the app. From dance-offs and comedy skits to obstacle courses and talent shows, this week is all about expressing yourself, having fun, and working as a team. Campers will create their own viral-worthy moments, all while building confidence, communication skills, and friendships. Join us for a week of laughter, movement, and creativity!
  • Week 7 - Fantasy and Magical Realms

    Step into a world of enchantment and adventure during our Fantasy and Magical Realms Week! Campers will immerse themselves in the mystical realms of magical creatures, heroic quests, and wizardly wonders. Each day brings new opportunities to craft potions, design fantastical creatures, and embark on quests, all while learning the value of teamwork, imagination, and creativity. From creating their own magic wands to solving riddles in a heroic challenge, campers will unlock their magical powers and work together to conquer fantastical obstacles. Prepare for a week full of magical discoveries and whimsical fun!
  • Week 8 - Mission Impossible: Spy Training

    The "Mission Impossible: Spy Training Camp Week" framework is an engaging and skill-building program perfect for middle school campers. This camp focuses on the key pillars of spy training—agility, problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and observation skills—and gradually builds toward a culminating mission. Each day, campers tackle new challenges that progressively increase in complexity, preparing them for the final mission on Day 4.
  • Week 9 - Pop Culture Playground

    Get ready for a week packed with creativity, laughter, and all things pop culture! Campers will immerse themselves in movie madness, music and dance extravaganzas, viral trend challenges, and more—all without screens! From crafting DIY movie posters and lip sync battles to designing their own trendy games and performing skits, every day is a new adventure in popular culture. This week-long journey will culminate in a Pop Culture Showdown filled with trivia, talent showcases, and team games that bring out everyone’s star power. Join us for an unforgettable week of fun and creativity!
  • Week 10 - End of Summer Fun

    Due to staffing limitations, Week 10 will only be open to Wilmington Friends students. Programming will be adapted to the interests of the attending campers. If middle school numbers are low, activities may be combined with the oldest Lower School group. Campers will continue to go to the pool and ice skating rink in the afternoons.

  • Dodgeball Camp

    Get ready for the ultimate high-energy experience! Our Dodgeball Specialty Camp is designed for middle-school campers who love fast-paced games, teamwork, and learning new skills. Our program kicks off with Dodgeball Academy, where campers receive instruction on four different international dodgeball styles. Each version introduces unique rules and techniques that broaden players’ skills and keep every game fresh and exciting. Whether your camper is returning or new to our camp, this session offers an exciting blend of fun, strategy, and friendly competition.


    Campers can expect daily skill building instruction and demonstrations, team-building challenges, safe and supervised game play, and lots and lots of dodgeball! By the end of the session, campers will improve their throwing, catching, dodging, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while discovering unique strategies and new skills. This specialty camp is perfect for active kids who love to learn, compete, and laugh their way through the day. Join us for a summer session packed with energy, friends, and nonstop dodgeball fun!
  • Cooking

    Summer is the perfect time to dive into the culinary arts, and there’s no better way to do it than alongside friends! At our Specialty Cooking Camp, young chefs of varying abilities will explore the exciting world of cooking and baking. This year’s edition will feature a variety of cultural cuisines, giving campers the chance to discover new flavors and broaden their culinary horizons. Working with fresh, healthy ingredients, they’ll create mouthwatering recipes while building confidence and valuable kitchen skills. The week ends on a sweet note with a festive Dessert showcase called Cupcake Wars, where campers present their creative culinary masterpieces. It’s a deliciously fun experience that’s not to be missed!


  • Volleyball

    This camp is for any volleyball player looking to take their game to the next level. Players will receive training that emphasizes speed, decision-making skills, and fine- tuning positions and postures to be able to control balls that are attacked with great power. Emphasis will be placed on the following skills: passing (overhand and underhand) technique, hitting footwork and arm swing, defensive movement, blocking footwork and mechanics, effective serving, developing well-rounded skills by playing in small groups (all players learn to pass, set, and hit), court coverage and attacking with control, position-specific (setters, liberos, outsides, middles, etc) training, developing volleyball IQ and proper court positioning.
