Dining Services

Friends Café runs our full-service cafeteria in the middle/upper school building which also provides beverages and meals for lower school students. It also runs the Java Nook, which offers hot beverages, continental breakfast and lunch options for upper schoolers.

Chef West creates a hot entree and made-from-scratch soup each day, and many of our other menu items are made in house.  For lunch we offer a full salad bar, as well as a made-to-order sandwich bar, the “Sandwich Nook,” where students can enjoy a freshly prepared sandwich, club, wrap or pita. Students can also order a Panini, whether it be a “create your own” or the weekly suggestion. This works out great for students in a hurry-- they can “grab and go."

ORGANIC AND LOCAL FOODS
Whenever possible, Friends Café purchases local foods from several vendors. We have teamed up with the Common Market in Philadelphia to provide local and organic products which benefits farmers directly. We also are provided with organic produce from the WFS garden which we regularly put in our salad bar. Many organic snacks and drinks are also available in the café.

CHOICES FOR LOWER SCHOOL STUDENTS
The Friends Café can provide beverages and lunches delivered to the classroom for lower school students.  Lunch contracts include a variety of hot and cold lunches, and all contract lunches include a beverage. Beverages are delivered all 5 days of the week, and lunches are available every day except Wednesday when we offer pizza (for an additional charge). Students may sign up for a 2-day or 4-day lunch contract. Students sign up separately for pizza on Wednesday.

LOWER SCHOOL "GOOD 4 YOU" CART
Friends is pleased to offer the “good 4 you” cart, featuring a variety of healthy snacks and fruit that will be available for purchase by 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.  All snacks will meet our “Fit Pick” healthy criteria. The students will go to a designated location in the building to purchase the snacks during a mid-morning break on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  All students will be able to use their school debit account at www.mypaymentsplus.com, our new system which allows parents to load money into student accounts (see below for more information).

PAYMENT SYSTEM FOR MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL
All middle and upper school students (and 3rd, 4th and 5th graders) are automatically enrolled in the café register system, and are assigned a unique 4- digit PIN (student ID #) that will be the same until they graduate. Our system is  MyPaymentsPlus which requires parents to load money into student accounts in order for them to be able to make purchases with this PIN.

MyPaymentsPlus provides an easy-to-use, efficient way to make payments quickly and securely anytime. Parents can sign up for low balance alert emails to keep track of their child's account and are able to view the purchases made in the cafeteria online.

Students can still pay with cash; however, we encourage parents to prepay money into their student’s account to make checkout more efficient.
