Too old for naps? Not ready for ice skating? We’ve got a camp that’s just right! Tailored especially for campers in kindergarten and first grade, Eager Explorers proved to be a huge success during the 2017 camp season with multiple weeks selling out due to its popularity. Mornings will be spent in age appropriate activities for Art, Physical Education, and the weekly special (music, cooking, science, etc.), while afternoons and field trips will address our kindergarten and first grade sensibilities.

Each week, the Eager Explorers will leave campus for bowling with the Big Kids, swimming at Arden Swim Club (3 days each week), and playing on the Can Do Playground. On campus afternoon activities will include active games, arts and crafts, imaginative play, playground time, and story time. The Eager Explorers will also participate in all “Fun Friday” special events including Decades Day, Inflatables, and Dance Parties.

NEW Eager Explorers Gardening Specialty Camp
Week of June 25

Seeds, plants, soil, sun, and water! Eager Explorers will spend mornings digging (literally!) into the world of gardening. We will plant flowers and food in our school gardens, as well as decorate and plant in pots to take home. Each day will also include nature walks around campus and free play on our natural playground. Snacks, music, and art celebrating plants will round out our week together. Taught by Liza Conces, PS/PK Music teacher, former Girl Scout leader, and avid gardener. Get ready to get dirty!!!
Please Note: This camp is offered in the morning. Campers enrolled in this program will not participate in the morning rotation of activities.
Location: The Lower School Day Camp is located at the Lower School campus of Wilmington Friends School, just off Granite Road in Alapocas. On-site facilities include a large multipurpose gym, two art/computer/activity rooms, a kitchen, locker rooms, and outdoor fields and play equipment.
Clothing and Toys: Children should wear cool, comfortable, weather appropriate clothes to camp, and be prepared for both outdoor and indoor activities. All campers must wear sneakers and socks. Please do not send your child to camp in sandals. Campers will not need to bring toys to camp. While it is appropriate for our Mighty Munchkin campers to bring a favorite blanket or stuffed animal to help them relax during quiet time, all other toys and electronic devices are prohibited from being brought to camp.
Absences: If your child is going to be absent, please call (302) 576-2998 after 7:30 a.m. to inform the camp staff.
Lunches and Snacks: Snack will be provided to all campers in the mid-morning and to those enrolled in After-Camp Care. Water or juice is available throughout the day. Campers will need to provide their own lunches in insulated bags or coolers. Please pack lunches that do not require additional refrigeration or heat. On Wednesdays, campers will have the option to purchase pizza for lunch; information will be available each week about “Pizza Wednesdays.”
